In September 2019, the PhotoDemos team travelled to Georgia’s capital city, Tbilisi, to join the Tbilisi Photo Festival at the invitation of its founder Nestan Nijaradze. Over a period of several days we attended talks and workshops, visited the exhibitions organized across a number of venues in the city.

Citizens of Photography: the Camera and the Political Imagination

Our panel included presentations by Christopher Pinney, Naluwembe Binaisa, Vindhya Buthpitiya, Konstantinos Kalantzis, Sokphea Young, and Ileana L. Selejan, outlining our individual research and the overall scope of the “Citizens of Photography” project.
